On the 24th November 2007 at 4.45am, Corinne's fourth grandchild Skye was born. She was unfortunately born with Exomphalos, a condition in which the bowel, and often a portion of the liver, pushes through the abdominal wall and the baby is born with these organs on the outside of their body. Soon after she was born her breathing deteriorated and she was rushed to a Children's Hospital. She arrived there at 9am and within a matter of hours the family were told that due to her heart being enlarged she wouldn't make it through the night. Skye fought for her life and with the fantastic care and support of the staff she made it through.

Skye only hours old.

However, on further investigation the arteries and veins throughout Skye's body were found to be extremely narrow, thus forcing the heart to work harder to try and circulate the blood.

Doctors have known this condition only to be on one side of the body, but Skye has it throughout both sides. They have called this condition Universalarterialdysplasia and are still learning about it from Skye. Skye's life expectancy is only two years, we will cherish every moment we have with her.

Corinne wanted to produce a calendar to raise money for the fantastic care received from the staff at the Children's Hospital, and also to send Skye, along with her Mum and Dad on a holiday of a lifetime.

She met Jen who came as a beginner to one of her classes. Jen is a photographer and works in the design industry. After hearing Corinne's idea she was moved by Skye's story and was more than happy to help. After months of hard work, stress and many tears, Corinne and Jen are proud to introduce to you the 'POLE FINESSE 2010 Calendar'. It has given Corinne the opportunity to give a little something back to her family and the amazing staff at the Children' Hospital.
